This is a resource for readers and wanna-be poets like me to more thoroughly explore and contemplate the techniques that go into poetry and the ways it affects the world around us. I want to examine the sources that trends in modern poetry draw from as well as the established literary standards which have held through decades of changing poetic styles. Beyond any of that, I’d like to highlight and showcase individual creators and talk about why I think they’re special and enjoyable, which is probably the most significant intention of this blog: to emphasize enjoyment when reading poetry. Most people have only been exposed to poetry in an academic environment which might leave a sour taste behind for some. Reading poetry for fun is possible and it can be evaluated using more casual criteria than your AP Lit teacher allowed.
